Keynotes

Keynote Address by

CAPT JON HAASE

Captain Haase was born in Des Plaines, IL. He attended the United States Naval Academy and graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 2001 then earning his M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland. Upon commissioning he attended training Surface Warfare and Diving Officer training.

 

In 2003 he reported aboard the USS SAFEGUARD (ARS 50), where he served as Operations and Training Officer. He then served at Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit FIVE where he served throughout the Indo-Pacific and a combat deployment to Iraq. He has also served at Expeditionary Strike Group SEVEN, Joint Special Operations Command, Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit ONE, and Special Operations Command Pacific before reporting to command. His command tour was at EOD Mobile Unit TWO, where his command deployed Sailors globally.

 

Commander Haase’s personal decorations include the Bronze Star Medal (with Combat Distinguishing Device) and various service and campaign awards. He is qualified as an Acquisition Professional, program manager level 3, fully joint qualified, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal Officer.

LTGEN RUDDER

LtGen Rudder (ret) serves as the President of Stick Rudder Enterprises, specializing in manned and unmanned aerospace and defense consulting for domestic and international markets. He also serves as a Senior Defense Fellow for the Atlantic Council. He retired after 38 years as the Commanding General of Marine Forces Pacific, where he commanded all US Marine air and ground operations in the Asia Pacific. In this capacity, he also served as the Deputy Joint Force Maritime Component Commander under the Pacific Fleet.

 

During his career, he commanded a Light Attack Helicopter Squadron, Marine Air Group, Marine Air Wing, and Marine Pacific Forces responsible for combat operations, air and ground maintenance sustainment, and training and readiness. His General Officer leadership positions included the Director of Marines Corps Legislative Affairs, Commander of the 1st Marine Air Wing in Japan, leading all Marine aviation operations in the Pacific, and Director of Policy and Plans for INDOPACOM.

 

Before assuming command of Marine Forces Pacific, he served as the Deputy Commandant for Aviation where he managed all Marine Aviation aircraft procurement and sustainment programs to include the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, MQ-9 Reaper, MV-22 Osprey, KC-130, CH-53K, TPS-80 Radar, and Aviation Command and Control program. With over 5000 hours in multiple aircraft and recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross

in combat, he uses his operational and program experience to serve US Defense Companies and International partners.
